Cloudchord - Imprint (2017) [Hi-Res]

"Imprint”, the first full length offering from guitarist/producer Derek VanScoten produced under his alias Cloudchord, drops March 21st on Gravitas Recordings. Drawing from obvious jazz and funk roots, the 12 track LP invites subtle influences of future bass, tropical house, and disco to mingle fluidly. However, it’s quickly discernible upon first listen that these influences have cemented into something new; the album is delivered as agreeably familiar yet blissfully fresh, mixing straight beat and broken rhythms with live guitar and poignant synth melodies throughout. Fans of live electronic and indie music will feel at home during the flavorful collaborations with SunSquabi of All Good Records and Los Angeles based trumpet player Erinn Bone.

After performing as D.V.S* for the better part of a decade, VanScoten opted to reboot his project as this new moniker only a year ago. In that short time, he’s composed official remixes for Autograf, Magic Giant, and Of Monsters And Men, plus collaborated over the years with Cherub, Dom of Big Gigantic, Emancipator, Random Rab, and Michal Menert to name only a handful. Although his reputation as a guitar player has taken him far, Cloudchord has truly come into his own as a producer with the release of “Imprint”, solidifying a bright future for a truly multi-disciplined talent.
