Santiago was born in a family of musicians and from there his love for jazz and flamenco. After his great training at the Superior Conservatory in The Hague, Holland, he had the opportunity to share the stage and accompany great artists such as Jerry Gonzalez, Buika, Caetano Veloso, Joaquín Sabina, Raimundo Amador, Norman Hogue, Alain Pérez, Antonio Mesa, Jorge Drexler, Kirk Lightsey, Jorge Pardo, Herman Olivera, Brandford Marsalis, Frabk Tiberi, John Ruocco, among others.
Cañada specializes in several musical styles: his family was passionate about contemporary jazz but he also knew how to enter Latin jazz, flamenco, reggae, afrobeat, among other styles. Its great versatility allows you to cross the genres with ease and through dizzying melodies and daring alone that leave no one indifferent.
In 2014, the album he recorded with Jorge Drexler “Bailar en la cueva” received a Latin Grammy for Best Record of the Year and in 2018 he won an American Grammy nomination in the Best Word Music album category with “For Me”, disco performed with Buika.
