Florian Truebsbach: Wearing Down Two people meet for the first time and start a conversation as intimate and close as if they had known each other for years. The jazzsaxophonist Florian Trubsbach invited the American singer/songwriter Shannon Callahan for his LP "Wearing Down." A couple of years ago he fell in love with the Americans voice and musical sensiblity says Trubsbach. "Grey evenings suddenly became magical to me." But he also knows: "for authentic results its better to leave a singer in her musical homeland." The compositions of the two musicians develop a sound which swings somewhere between Country Folk and Jazz warm and wide tough and fragile thoughtful and kind. Florian Trubsbach surrounds his singer with musicians who are not just excellent instrumentalists but first and foremost good friends and longtime musical companions.Bastian Jutte (drums) Philipp Steen (bass) Christian Kogel (guitar) and Wolfgang Zechlin (piano) leave Callahans voice the space it needs and at other times take the freedom to explode. "This music is for my friends" says Trubsbach who presents a very personal statement with "Wearing Down." It tells of life in the thick of it of being lost in a cold night of flights into different realms and of a beloved aunt. A handful of stories for people who like to listen. Especially from beginning to end. The songs wont be available on CD but only for download or for true aficcionados on vinyl.
