Roman Rofalski Trio - Der Wegweiser (2014) [Hi-Res]

On „Der Wegweiser“ pianist Roman Rofalski dares the fusion of European art music of the late 19th century and the American Jazz into a fresh and interactive from of trio music. It is neither the goal to simply accompany classical music with drums and double bass, nor to set counterpoints to the “American Songbook”. In fact this album should be understood as an attempt to hopefully focus – out of a not even remotely comprehensible choice – the spoiled ear of the jazz and classical music audience to an unexpected level. A level where seemingly distant music from the “old” and the “new” world are combined in composition and improvisation.

The careful and very personal selection and combination of these nine pieces underline this attempt very well.
