With an amazingly long history, this acid jazz project is rooted in the world of jazz and funk in the 70s. It was founded by Jean-Paul Monique (Jean-Paul '' Bluey '' Maunick) and Paul Williams (Paul '' Tubbs '' Williams). Both played in the band Light of the World, performing a cross between disco and funk. After the release of the third Light of the World LP entitled '' Check Us Out '', Monique and Williams slightly changed the composition of the participants and renamed the group to Incognito.
Incognito began their work with the single `` Parisienne Girl ''. In the same year, their first LP, Jazz Funk, was released, but over the next ten years, Incognito did not play anything and did not release any albums. In the early 90s, the legendary DJ and one of the first fans of the project, Giles Peterson, founded the Talkin 'Loud studio and began a large-scale collaboration with musicians. In 1991, in the wake of the rapid development of the acid jazz genre in the UK, the single Incognito `` Always There '' hit the top ten tracks, after which the second Incognito album, entitled `` Inside Life '', was released. The album was mostly studio, many talented musicians from all over the UK took part in the recording.
In 1992, Monique first invited the famous American vocalist Maysa Leak to participate in the recording of the album '' Tribes, Vibes & Scribes ''. A hit of that time was a cover version of the song `` Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing' 'in the original performance of Stevie Wonder. The album broke into the British pop charts and the American charts of modern jazz. Incognito's third album, `` Positivity '', was the most successful in the history of the group, concentrating on itself the attention of the public throughout Europe. This was followed by already less successful, but no less high-quality
and the original albums '' 100 and Rising '', '' Beneath the Surface '' and '' No Time Like the Future ''. The Incognito project does not have a permanent list of participants: this project is the dream and reality of one person known as Jean-Paul `` Bluey '' Maunick. Since the creation of the project in 1981, many musicians have collaborated with him. The project leader does not single out anyone specifically, according to him, this approach allows `` to support many talents and at the same time teaches us all the modesty that many projects lack so much today. ''
Making a list of participants for the album `` No Time Like the Future '', Monique called all the musicians together `` The Incognito Family '' ('' The Incognito Family '').
The last album of the “Incognito family” - “Tales from the Beach” - is dedicated to the memory of the untimely departed Paul “Tubbs” Williams - a longtime associate of Jean Paul ...
