Marek Jakubowski Quartet - Colors (2019)

"Colors" is another, third author album of Marek Jakubowski, drummer, composer and jazz educator. After the first very warmly received albums of his trio, the leader decided to record his latest project in a quartet. This time he invited to cooperation extremely talented young musicians, well known not only on the Poznań jazz scene.

They are:
Marek Konarski - saxophones,
Jacek Szwaj - piano
Damian Kostka - double bass.

The album contains 10 songs composed by Jakubowski, titled with the names of individual colors. These compositions are maintained in very different moods and climates. They give the impression that they reflect the personal perception of the world and its multi-colored colors.
The musicians of the quartet perfectly adapted to this convention and created a peculiar picture full of surprises with their suggestive play. To paint this work they used a rich palette of colors and means: from intriguing dynamic rhythms in a variety of meter, through melancholic climates, impressionist harmonies, to gentle melodies, space, peace and quiet ...
As a result of various inspirations, an eclectic and charming album was created, made with great care and attention to detail.
