Sometimes covers should be deliberately frivolous than the originals. Hope the small orchestra Palast Orchester first became known in our country when their snappy version of "Oops! I did It Again!" from the album "Superhits praesentiert vom Palast Orchester" (let me say that the orchestra is already more than 10 years old - and all these years it has been releasing exclusively Superhits to the public). And now the merry Germans did it again - having published the next collection in their "proprietary" processing a la the 20s and 30s.
By the way, these treatments began to appear on the charts for a reason: a new fashion is coming - a fashion for style, European chic, dress pairs on stage, tenderness and romance. Believe me, soon the untidy 70s and the rampant 60s will be forgotten like a nightmare. Not for long. But this is a victory.
What captivates in these songs? First of all - seasoned style. None of the covers looks like a mockery of the meaning, although, in fact, it is precisely that.
Make a quick step from the viscous-depressive "Tainted Love", which has fluttered on the Soft Cell banner for decades? - there is nothing easier.
A deliberate foxtrot borrowed from Alphaville? - you are welcome.
And the Viennese waltz with the transition to the cha-cha-cha from "Lady Marmalade" - so much so that the nasty girl Kristina felt embarrassed about spoiling a good song? - for God's sake.
There are, of course, things that are clearly unsuccessful on the disc: for example, daring to make a neo-samba with a clear allusion to the Prince from the Lennox anthem "There Must Be an Angel", Palast Orchester clearly transferred sugar to it.
It seems that the mannered voice of Max Raabe (Max Raabe) came straight from the gramophone record, gathering dust in the attic of the great-grandmother. Neither rap in the background nor electronics, which can be diluted with arrangements, can spoil it. A smile spreads across her face.
