The Drake University Wind Symphony’s ninth release through Mark Records brings together music from recognized composers Peter Mennin, James Barnes, and Joseph Spaniola, with compositions by up and coming composers Wayne Oquin, Roger Zare, and Aaron Perrine. Called “…one of the Midwest’s premiere wind orchestras” by Bandworld, the Drake Wind Symphony has received high praise for its musical interpretations from many of today’s leading band composers including David Maslanka, Timothy Mahr, Dana Wilson, John Mackey, and Michael Markowski. The Wind Symphony has been noted as an ensemble that “…gives the utmost attention to every detail and nuance,” and has gained Grammy nomination eligibility status for many of its recordings.
