Nilok4tet - A Wonder Plane To... (2019)

Nilok4tet is the band created and led since the end of 2013 by bassist Colin Jore with two faithful partners, Fabien Duscombs (drums) and Yvan Picault (tenor sax, flute, bass clarinet), both from the bubbling Toulouse jazz scene.

The repertoire consists entirely of original compositions, referring to the hybrid forms of jazz culture in the broad sense of the term. Also inspired by the evocative power of film music, Nilok4tet installs evocative atmospheres, allowing music to develop freely, alternating moments of grooves and tonal improvisations, to more contemplative or psychedelic phases ...

At the end of 2016, Colin Jore invited Daniel Zimmermann, a talented trombonist, to join the band in order to give it a more orchestral dimension. A creative residency and a series of concerts consolidates the collective dimension of the game to which this beautiful team is very attached.
New compositions as well as new arrangements, on some older pieces give birth to the disc "A Wonder plane to ...". 69 min of music in total for 8 pieces, many of which develop as small suites built from very neat themes. Highly contrasted phases allow each of the musicians to express themselves freely, either through collective improvisations or solos, in order to propose a dense, energetic, lively and planing sound material at a time.
Since 2019, Julien Touéry on keyboards has joined the adventure for the 2019-2020 tour.
