“Jennifer’s munificent charm and honesty is all too clear in her music which aims to embrace it’s listeners in musical refuge and individual uplift, with rounded-out low tones, smooth jazz-sensibilities and tender lyrics, from the heart to the heart.”
Straddling the boarders of jazz, soul and folk, Jennifer McMahon is a singer, songwriter and producer from Dublin. Inspired lyrically by life experiences, compositionally by exploration and jazz- inspired harmonies aswell as more conceptual ideas; Jennifer’s music has become a cross over of genres bringing drama through jazz, improvisation through soundscapes with a touch of soul for good measure, all the while retaining the storytelling importance of folk music.
At the heart of Jennifer’s music is the human experience; living it, witnessing it and sharing it: the light in the dark, the beauty in sadness, the turbulence in stillness. Absorbed with the juxtapositions of life’s extremities, Jennifer’s music is an aural oneness of opposites.
Jennifer says her music is always evolving; seeking out new vehicles of form, style, interpretation and weaving it into the fabric of her artistry. Her most recent project ‘Part Of The Whole’ was borne out of the passing of her father and the breakdown of a relationship. Ultimately, it touches on gratitude for the journey and the people in it. Part Of The Whole features more than 20 musicians from over 10 different countries. It is currently in post-production and set for release in November 2019. A launch event on November 29th at Dublin’s Unitarian Church will celebrate the albums release and feature music from upcoming projects.
Jennifer graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Master of Contemporary Performance and Production at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain in 2017 having gained her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Newpark Music Centre in Dublin, Ireland. She has been an active performing musician in Dublin since 2006.
With a voice equally as delicate as it can be powerful, Jennifer brings you on a journey, from the most vulnerable places to the most empowering.
