Coro Victoria - Nebra: Requiem (2019)

The reign of Fernando VI. and his wife Maria Barbara de Braganza was once referred to as the "Melomanian Reign" because of the extraordinary musical enthusiasm of the two monarchs. On the occasion of the funeral of the Queen in August 1758, the requiem of José de Nebra was heard. In his sovereign combination of techniques of Spanish vocal polyphony of the Renaissance and modern, influenced by Italy compositional style, it represents a last artistic tribute to the music-loving queen of the court Kapellmeister. Until well into the 19th century, it remained as a preferred work for royal funeral services in the repertoire the royal chapel.
