Traditionally, the Ingolstadt Jazz Days are opened with the award of the Jazzförderpreis of the city of Ingolstadt. In 2019 the trumpeter Lukas Lindner receives the prestigious prize, which is financially supported by Sparkasse Ingolstadt Eichstätt and MediaMarktSaturn.
Lukas Lindner started playing the trumpet at the age of five. During his time at the Gabrieli Grammar School in Eichstätt he created his first compositions for a wide variety of occupations. He found his way into jazz through the school's own big band. Next it went u.a. with the band Bigband Eichstätt, the Stromlos Bigband Ingolstadt, the swingIN Bigband or the SchutterNeun Jazzorchester. After graduating from Gabrieli-Gymnasium, Lukas Lindner moved to the Berufsfachschule für Musik in Sulzbach-Rosenberg.
Since 2017 Lukas Lindner has been a member of the Landes-Jugendjazzorchester Bayern and takes private composition lessons (with Robin Hoffmann, Manfred Knaak and Ingo P. Stefans). In addition, Lukas Lindner took part in various master classes (Robin Hoffmann, Harald Rüschenbaum, Peter Tuscher, Hans Zimmer). For WS 2019/2020 he will study "Music and Media" at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf.
At the opening concert, Lukas Lindner will play his compositions and arrangements with a specially composed big band (with musicians from both the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra and the region). The highlight of the program will be his big band cycle "The Four Elements".
