River Cow Orchestra - First Bliss (2019)

These tracks are the result of a full day in the studio generating 24 tunes. In the studio, we tend not to use isolation booths or baffles, etc. We simply set up in a semi-circle and then position mics and then start playing. Several weeks of listening and moving the order and making minor tweaks produced 10 pieces that we felt summed up this latest adventure in improvisational music using no charts, dubs, retakes, etc. All the music is made up as we go. Sometimes when we are out playing live gigs people don't believe us when we say we just now made that piece up. They walk among the instruments on the stage and look for written music. Sometimes they find a poem or song lyrics that were written before we created the music and were incorporated into the piece, but no charts. Some of the lyrics are made up on the spot as well. The titles are, of course, added after the fact following the intense listening that helps bring out the inherent titles found in the mood and structure of the music. Finding titles can add an extra week to the production of the album. We hope you enjoy the result, "First Bliss."
