Le nouvel opus de Hille Perl chez Deutsche Harmonia Mundi explore l'oeuvre d'un compositeur peu connu, Johann Schenk (1681 - 1767), fondamental dans le répertoire de la viole de gambe. Il reste celui qui, à l'instar d'un Marin Marais cinquante ans plus tôt en France, inscrira l'instrument dans le paysage sonore de son époque. Profonde, incontestablement inspirée, alliance subtil entre l'épanouissement mélodique cher aux Italiens et une profondeur expressive très française, la musique de Johann Schenck demeure d'une rare élégance.
