A famous record of Previn's middle age, representing the former EMI label, which is also famous as a famous recording of Bishop & Parker (except for some songs). This Russian-heavy performance is a historical recording that drove Rachmaninoff's worldwide resurgence. In particular, this uncut recording of Symphony No. 2 had a major impact on subsequent performances and recordings of the same song. Except for the second, the other songs are the premier works of Previn's former EMI era, the world's first CD. For this reprint, a new mastering was performed separately for the SACD layer and the CD layer using a master digitized at 96kHz / 24bit from the original master in the home country. Previn became the first conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1968 and initially recorded for RCA. Russian music, including Vaughan-Williams's Complete Symphony and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5, are still highly acclaimed. After that, many recordings will be made on EMI, but in the re-recorded 1973 Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2, this song was restored by restoring a large cut that was customary until then. Established a true reputation and greatly influenced the subsequent recording and performance of the song (see Takagi's commentary below for details). This No. 2 was released in 2012 as a domestic edition SACD, but in this reprint, mastering is performed newly with other songs. EMI recording at this time is just the maturity of analog recording, and will peak in the late 70's. This recording of Rachmaninoff was carried out from 1973 to 76, and except for some songs, the name of Bishop & Parker was in charge, and it is well known as a representative recording representing the analog age of EMI . In the SACD layer, you can clearly see the recording location, age, and the characteristics of the engineers. There is also a recording of the "bell" in Previn, but in this three-disc set, the symphony and orchestral music are assembled. The insight of Previn and EMI who released these Rachmaninoff works during this period is particularly noteworthy.
