Daniel Schenker Quintet & Chris Cheek - Times of Innocence (2020)

CD Times of InnocenceThe addition of a second wind to my quartet turned out to be so inspiring in terms of composition and band interplay that I started with the quintet line-up with Chris Cheek (NY, tenor and soprano saxophone) after the live CD "soundlines" (TCB, 2006) realized a second album. The pieces for this have been created in the past five years. In addition to the interplay aspect, I am particularly interested in the compositional variety of possibilities for writing for two melody instruments and piano trio. The Brazilian influence is now somewhat thinned out, the focus is on melodic songs, voice guidance and a more intensive examination of odd meters.
