Janning Trumann is a doer: someone who sometimes rolls up his sleeves and lends a hand himself; one who develops ideas and does everything to ensure that they are also realized; someone who thinks politically and eloquently seeks to talk to decision-makers in politics. This is one of the reasons why Trumann, born somewhere in the Lüneburg Heath in 1990, is the man of the hour around the “Jazz City of Cologne” (this is also the name of a project that Trumann, as chair of the “Cologne Jazz Conference” initiative, developed and developed a year and a half ago has brought the start) and to position it in relation to the metropolis Berlin.
Trumann is also a trombonist who moved to Cologne via Hamburg, where he had studied at the jazz department of the University of Dance and Music. Even the shape of his 2014 concert exam made it clear that he was not just a young, up-and-coming, talented jazz musician, but also an asset for the Cologne scene: he designed his exam as a small festival.
Somehow logical that Trumann launched his record label Tangible Music at the beginning of last year. But his label is not just home for his own productions. Rather, it is a platform for the young scene in Cologne, which has been formed around the jazz department of the University of Music for several years - and Trumann has played a large part in its increasing perception from the outside.
