Harpist Edmar Castaneda’s new album Double Portion is a solo project interpreting two harps, The Colombian and The classical, both really different instruments but rich and groovy on it’s own way. They become more than friends on this album where he mixes New York and Latin America’s life style, rhithms and influences.

Edmar apply a new technique on both harps by playing the bass and the melody at the same time, making the instrument sound like two or three instruments.

Jazz music plays an inportant role on edmar’s music, he was born and raised in Colombia where he gets to know the harp and different rhythms from folk music, later on he moves to New York and meets Jazz and he started to developed his technique mixing those two cultures.

Now after recording 2 albums as trio (Harp, Trombone and Drums) he introduces us to a new world where classical and folk harps get togheter.

Specical guest, Gonzalo Rubalcaba / piano, Miguel Zenon / Alto Sax and Hamilton de Holanda/ Mandolina are the prefect touch for the CD; three great musicians from Latin America influenced by Jazz.
