Casco Phil - Once in a Weill (2020)

Casco Phil was founded in 2008 as "Belgian Chamber Philharmonic" and made a flashy start at deSingel in Antwerp. In the meantime Casco Phil has been a guest in numerous national and international halls, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Bozar Brussels and the Concertgebouw Bruges. The artistic direction is in the hands of Benjamin Haemhouts. He chose to work with a permanent group of around 39 musicians, which is effortlessly reduced or expanded according to the project.

Casco Phil strives for a new interpretation of the term "orchestra". The cycle of traditional projects is being strengthened, but at the same time unique and groundbreaking projects are being added. Casco Phil is a "music workplace" where there is room to experiment across the arts, in the broadest sense of the word. The "orchestra" setting should not stand in the way of creativity: the artistic idea is central, the form around that idea is changeable and plays a reinforcing role. Breaking open the classical orchestra structure can only lead to creativity.
