Joe LoCascio mostly sticks to electric keyboards on this intriguing set of crossover jazz. The music grooves although none of the originals are all that memorable by themselves. A major asset is the harmonica playing of Gary Weldon, which is often in the lead, giving the band an unusual sound. Warren Sneed gets off a few passionate tenor solos, and the rhythm section is solid if not distinctive. This will be a difficult set to locate (the Optimism label is long extinct) but succeeds as danceable and soulful jazz.
