..It's funny that when “Let’s Go To San Francisco” became a hit, no full-fledged group FLOWER POT MEN then existed. The fact is that the song was conceived as a one-time project, so it was recorded by session musicians (the main vocals were performed by Tony Burroughs, and the future DEEP PURPLE founder, John Lord, was noted on the keys).
The name of the "group" was invented not without irony. Initially, “Flower Pot Men” was called a children's show on the BBC, but in the context of the era, there was a hint of marijuana grown in the phrase. As a result, in a more conservative USA, the name of the group was reduced to a more decent one - FLOWER MEN (i.e., just FLOWER PEOPLE).
