Rotsystem is the new album of Swedish jazz pianist Isabell Gustafsson-Ny. Rotsystem is music, but also art and text without sounds. It features playful shifts in settings and is a result of researching intersections between genres, artistry and expression. The album explores the importance of home – places and roots anchoring us to the ground, history and further in to each other. Whilst exploring these themes, the music spreads its threads to free jazz, chamber music and pop. The band consist of six of Sweden’s most interesting young musicians, coming from the jazz field as well as from the contemporary art music scene.

Isabell Gustafsson-Ny (b. 1990) is a Swedish jazz pianist and composer, born in Gagnef, now based in Stockholm. Her first record Isabells sekt – Kalejdoskop was released 2016 and received great reviews and words such as ”timeless jazz feeling” and ”true generous jazz music”. During this winter and spring she tours with the award-winning Swedish folk musician Sara Parkman.
