The Lynne Arriale Trio celebrate their tenth anniversary with the release of Come Together. This collection features six originals composed by the pianist along with stellar covers of the Beatles' "Come Together," the Scottish classic "Red Is the Rose," and "Iko Iko" from the film titled The Big Easy. Lynne Arriale's classical essence is very apparent on "Flamenco." She offers an irresistible landscape of captivating flamenco rhythms merged with distinct classical/jazz elements. "Sea and Sand" and "Twilight" both provide the perfect respite from the up-tempo burner "Sunburst" and its spontaneous riffs. On these beautiful ballads, the melodies and her improvisations are pensive and create an imaginative aura of relaxation. Arriale's piano proficiency continues to play the starring role in this wonderful trio, but with the aid of Steve Davis on drums and Jay Anderson on acoustic bass, together they present a beautiful jazz program that results in a surprising fresh new sound. ~ Paula Edelstein
