They understood the poem gratefully [...] to kindly remember enjoyable hours (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to Johann Wenzel Tomaschek in Cheb, August 6, 1822)

This only documented and extremely well documented encounter between Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Wenzel Tomaschek in Cheb and the more than benevolent criticism of the poet prince about the songs of this unjustly forgotten composer make this CD, which contains numerous songs as a first recording and others Recorded songs for the first time in their original key, for an exciting rediscovery of Tomaschek.

Ildikó Raimondi is not only a celebrated opera singer, but also a sought-after song interpreter and concert singer. She has been a member of the Vienna State Opera since 1991, where she has played over forty roles. There she has recently been heard as Dame (Cardillac), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Alice (Falstaff). But it is equally in demand internationally in opera and concert operations and at the most famous festivals.

Leopold Hager, born in Salzburg, studied conducting, organ, piano, harpsichord and composition at the Mozarteum University. After initial engagements in Mainz, Linz and Cologne, he was General Music Director in Freiburg / Breisgau, Chief Conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Musical Director of the RTL Symphony Orchestra Luxembourg and Chief Conductor of the Vienna Volksoper. Numerous concert tours have taken him through Europe and America.
