JANY MCPHERSON - Solo Piano (2020)

The artist, after an excellent career in Cuba, where she was awarded the prestigious "Adolfo Guzman" award and has long collaborated with esteemed artists such as Omara Portuondo, Orquesta Anacaona, Alain Pérez, Manolito Simonet, Tata Güines, Miles Peña and the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra, discovered by the famous French producer Yves Chamberland, former producer of Nina Simone, Henri Salvador, Michel Petrucciani and Richard Galliano, moved to live in France, in Nice, and recorded with him in 2011 his first album, "Tres Almas", with some famous guests (Didier Lockwood, Andy Narell, Michel Alibo, Olivier Louvel) and arrangements signed by Nicolas Folmer (Big Band Jazz in Paris) and Bernard Arcadio (Henri Salvador).

The album was nominated in 2013 for "Cubadisco Internacional" in the category "Best album of contemporary songs", a nomination that was repeated in 2014 for his second album, "Blues Side Live", recorded live.

McPherson, in addition to being a unique pianist for phrasing, harmonic progressions and unmatched rhythms, is also an extraordinary composer; in his music the Cuban sounds typical of his homeland are elegantly blended with the musical refinement of France, which he has chosen as his residence.

On stage the pianist is always accompanied by esteemed musicians such as Michel Alibo, Pierre Bertrand, Andy Narell, Rafael Paseiro, Minino Garay, Jean-Marc Jafet, Hadrien Feraud, Olivier Louvel, Nicolas Viccaro.

Jany has participated in important international festivals in the USA, Finland, Mexico, China, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Spain, China, Colombia, has performed in more than fifty concerts in France (Nice Jazz Festival, Monaco Jazz Festival, Palais de Chaillot, L'Atrium Scène Nationale, Porto Latino Festival, Jazz in the Bay, Jazz at Any Hour), and is considered one of the most exotic artists of the French jazz scene, with its fascinating mix of jazz and Latin American music.
