01. Azure Te
02. Comes Love
03. S'wonderful
04. Walk On By
05. Moonglow
06. How High the Moon
The dynamic simplicity of these performances are set in a compact combination of musical duos and trios behind their leader and vocal soloist Lee Engele who lays down those messages. Lee is inspired by guitarist Reynold Philipsek, bassist Matt Senjem, and violinist Gary Schulte, a most intriguing choice of consummate musicians who together deliver a subtle salute to some of Lee's favorite classic American songs.
If it has been another challenging day in these times for you, escape with Lee as she captures flashes of life through these songs, by such composers and lyricists as the Gershwin's, Hamilton and Lewis, and Bacharach and David. It all begins on Track 1 with a song by Bill Davis and Don Wolf, who swing you overseas via Paris Blues - Azure Te, and ends with an illuminating arrangement of How High the Moon. Elegant yet simple, delivered with warmth and class. ~ Leigh Kamman
"Jazz With An Attitude!" Lee has been gaining more and more acclaim as a talented and hard-working vocalist in the midwest region. Her recent gigs have included such venues as The Dakota, Hopkins Center for the Arts, The Twin Cities Jazz Festival and more. Lee was a participant in the 2008 edition of the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference, and appeared at the Bloomington Center for the Arts in December 2009 with Debbie Duncan and Bruce Henry in a salute to the 60th anniversary of Birdland. Lee also has worked as Disc Jockey for the past 25 years, and has performed in radio, voice-overs, theater, and with a number of local Big Bands. She is also the current President of the Twin Cities Jazz Society.
