Hattie Simon - La Vie En Jazz (2011)

I'm a jazz pianist and vocalist, interpreting standards from the Great American Songbook, contemporary jazz, originals and alternative music of artists like Norah Jones, Regina Spektor and Ben Folds.

I've been singing and playing jazz since the age of twelve (now 16), and frequently perform at coffeehouses and live music venues throughout Maine and have appeared as a guest artist on the Maine-based television show 207 on WCSH. I perform regularly as a solo artist and also collaborate often with bassist Nick Thompson-Brown, who is featured on my debut EP, La Vie En Jazz, released in October 2011. Musical influences include jazz greats Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Kurt Elling, Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald, Abbey Lincoln, Bobby McFerrin and Jamie Cullum. I also find inspiration in artists Rickie Lee Jones, Esperanza Spalding, Regina Spektor, Gretchen Parlato, Imogen Heap and Norah Jones.~Hattie Simon
