Universal Music Distribution owns the rights to many '80s singles that reached number one, so it shouldn't be too surprising that Number 1's: '80s Pop has one of the most random selections in the Number 1's series. The tracks run chronologically, skipping 1984 altogether and stopping at 1987, and the range of selections is very broad, from Captain & Tennille's "Do That to Me One More Time" to Ready for the World's "Oh Sheila" to Steve Winwood's "Higher Love."
