Fyter - Fyter (1978)

Very rare, but very listenable American hard rock record from Arkansas. The main problem here, as is often the case with the Yankees, is the heterogeneity of the material. The recording opens with an excellent psychedelic number Monarch, which would be useful, for example, on any Morly Gray or Kestrel album, but then goes peddling: one mindless rock and roll, syrup ballad, decent quality hard rock with howling dual guitars and rare interspersions of the synthesizer, then again an interesting psychedel (the ICU thing deserves our full attention). In general, this is a very high level guitar hard rock with skillfully constructed compositions, non-trivial melodic lines, good vocals and a fair amount of riffing. The sound is closer to the mid-70s rather than to the 80s with their metallization of the hard rock sound. For lovers of high-quality American hard what the doctor prescribed, and a few bad psychedelic things diversified the overall palette. Recommended!
