It may be a Nue Jazz Project for drummer Chris Massey, but he is someone who takes tradition into his own hands and creates something that sounds modern, fresh, and exciting. Vibrainum (self-released) may only be seven songs deep, but it is truly a deep listen due to the superb musicianship coming from Massey, Donald Malloy (trumpet), David Ostrem (bass), Evgeny Lebedav (piano), and Benjamin Drazen (alto & soprano saxophones).
