Damian Hyra Quartet - Z oddali (2020)

The Damian Hyra Quartet is a band that won this year's Jazz Phonographic Debut of the Institute of Music and Dance competition. The result of the win is the release of the debut album of the composition, entitled Z distali. The music on the album is a combination of jazz and improvisation with the leader's original lyrics. The quartet's musicians declare that the most important for them is the sound, space and musical message, including the one hidden in words.

Together with Damian Hyra, music was created by his friends - Dominik Gawroński (trumpet, flugelhorn), Ambroży Ranz (bass) and Dawid Opaliński (drums). The band won this year's edition of the Jazz nad Odrą competition, and was also a finalist of the Blue Note Jazz Competition and the competition at the Jazz Krokus Festival and Bass & Beat Festival. Damian Hyra is a guitarist and vocalist. He studies with Artur Lesicki at the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
