One of Sidney Bechet's final recordings was this relatively modern quartet session that also features pianist Martial Solal. This LP finds Bechet playing melodically and with invention on superior swing (rather than Dixieland) standards, meeting the modern 29-year-old pianist halfway. Bechet's sound was still beautiful, even at this late stage.
