On May 15, 2020, double bass player and composer Gabriel Midon presents “Imaginary Stories”, a unique opus where music and poetry coexist. Around the leader, a variable geometry jazz group and a string quartet whose subtle interventions broaden the sound palette of the opus. A true work of goldsmith presides over thirteen Imaginary Histories with changing colors and contrasting contours. To savor again and again!

At the head of a jazz group in which two drummers alternate, the double bassist joins a string quartet which helps to create a strange and magical sound box. The quality of the writing and the richness of the harmonizations contribute greatly to the richness of the musical landscapes.
After studying jazz piano at the Strasbourg Conservatory with Stephan Oliva, Gabriel Midon became a saxophonist before deciding on the double bass. In fact, it was in Paris, after having met the masters of the instrument, Larry Grenadier, Joe Sanders and Hein Van De Geyn, that Gabriel Midon oriented his career around the double bass.
the valued double bassist Gabriel Midon Sideman, he recorded alongside Faiz Lamouri, Gustave Reichert, The King Of Panda collective, Sam Tessier. He has played with Saul Rubin, Julien Alour, Rick Margitza, Baptiste Herbin, Sylvain Beuf, Didier Lockwood, Denise King on many prestigious stages in France.
In 2017, he recorded “Between Corridors” with his own quartet which brought together Romain Cuoq (saxophone), Clément Simon (piano) and Stéphane Adsuar (drums). It was then during a tour at the Yelewa Jazz Festival (Mayotte) with Simon Martineau and Thomas Delor, that he decided to write for a larger format and included other musicians such as Edouard Monni (piano).
From his studies, Gabriel Midon also inherited a certain taste for composition, as evidenced by the album "Imaginary Stories".
