Marios Nicolaides was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus. He has written, performed, and recorded music with several interdisciplinary groups, such as Primal Feelings and Charlie Diva. He studied music composition at the New England Conservatory in Boston.

Freeing My Soul: An Introduction Before Listening

May you read with sympathy, as I am going to speak freely and slightly metaphorically for the time being. Take into consideration that the following ideas are “alive”. That is to say they are energy, constantly shifting, a result of a joyful struggle, (sensuous human activity), an ongoing experience of personal transformation:

The source of my spirit contains elements of all the spiritual entities that have found their way into my soul. Whether they derive from the roots and history of my birthplace Cyprus, (by origin), or from my life’s journey in the form of a human being, (by nature); in the form of a natural thinker.

Consequently, the “by origin” search of the beauty that characterizes my Cypriot identity, as well as my individual “by nature” dialogue with other cultures and traditions of our world, combined with the “sensuous human activity” of Meditation practice help to form and understand the most beautiful of words: “Gratitude”.
Gratitude for the form and charisma that was given to me by fate in my mother’s womb, and gratitude for the ways I’ve been forming my own fate since the day I was born. Gratitude that can only sustain and grow with my faith in beauty. For I believe that all the teachings, traditions, human relationships of this world, contain inside them true beauty and love, as they are derived from the act of birth, the “creation of life”.

Hence the wish for “freeing our souls”, to let them time travel into the cosmos. To let them love each other, accept each other, and change the world by creating life. To search and identify the beauty inside them and turn it into creation.
This album is an expression of that search. Modern man’s search for beauty. From our roots to outer space, from our childhood to prehistory.
