„In order to deal free and easy with electronic elements, you don’t have to deny your origin, the jazz. Simple musical structures are just predestined for masterly improvisations..“
The first sounds already are setting the room swinging. But it is not the movements of the feet, not the drumming of fingers on knees, which matter. It is a condition which is described as “flow”, a flowing, a reverie, a gliding, the artists becoming one with the audience. Flow is like being in a state of ecstasy. When Reinmar Henschke meets Volker Schlott, it is created by conformity. Due to Grand piano, saxophone and electronic sounds, the twosome becomes a special musical event.
When in 1990 Henschke/Schlott performed, together with the japanese composer Rei Harakami, the much praised “ambienTTronic Projekt” in Weimar, it is the startingpoint for their very special style, overlapping different genres. What there finds a promising start as a new experiment beyond all “cross-over-clichés“ culminates now as logical consequence in the studio-album at hand CAFÉ THIOSSANE.
From the first track “Warm Night in Victoriapark” until the last one “Good Thing II” the composer and musician Reinmar Henschke (b., keyb., electr.) and Volker Schlott (sax., fl., electr.) prove that you don’t have to deny your origin, the jazz, to deal free and easy with electronic elements and that simple musical structures are just predestined for masterly improvisations.
Apart from their common project Henschke/Schlott are steadily working with musicians as Ulla Meinecke, Jocelyn B. Smith, Mikis Theodorakis and Maria Farantouri.
