Christophe Panzani Quintet - Les Correspondances (2020) Hi Res

The new project by saxophonist and composer Christophe Panzani is a tribute to 20th century French classical music and jazz, and their close connection to the mid-century.

While Ravel is on tour in the United States, presenting his music, playing the piano, he creates a sensation, and at the same time is very impressed by the music he discovers there. This is one of the many examples that have borne witness to the very close links that have been woven between French composers, inspired by the rhythms and colors of jazz, and jazz musicians listening to music written by Debussy, Ravel , Milhaud, Varèse ...

In a way, for Panzani, it is a way of inscribing himself in this musical heritage, between classical education and passion from an early age for jazz.

It is also a way of showing in music the "correspondences" between these two worlds. All the music is written for piano and has been orchestrated and arranged by Panzani for this orchestral ensemble consisting of a string quartet (Voce), a wind quintet (Arte Combo) and a jazz quintet with accordion and guitar.
