Toronto-based vocalist, songwriter and film actor Alex Bird is still preparing to release his debut album Whiskey Kisses at the end of October, but he is already well known in his native Canada, the USA, and some European countries where he performed. At the same time, the press speaks of Alex exclusively in superlatives. New Elvis, new Sinatra - this is the level of assessments, supported by concrete results. The album Whiskey Kisses is the soundtrack of the documentary Because One Day, which won the Best Music Award at the Canadian Film Festival in May 2020. The Way She Moves, the debut single of Alex and his band Alex Bird and The Jazz Mavericks, released in the fall of 2019, earned the title "Track of the Day" on such a reputable resource as All About Jazz. The second single, Whiskey Kisses, won the Best Jazz Song award in May 2020 at an international competition.
This band is young, inspired but playing with the textures of old jazz souls. This is not a retro act. Alex Bird is writing a whole new chapter in the Great American Songbook.
