Wild Bill Davison still had plenty of chops near the end of his life and the cornetist was especially appreciated in Europe, as he made several trips to perform and record during the 1970s. These sessions, recorded over several days in February 1974, feature Davison with different groups of European players, sometimes with a rhythm section and on others with one or more reeds. Davison shines throughout, as there is a good mix of songs and tempos, while his bandmates provide excellent support. Davison's heartfelt performance of "I Can't Get Started" rivals any other version. The tenor saxophonists stand out in particular: Steen Vig delivers a burning solo in the breezy "Sunday" and Uffe Karskov in "I'm Confessin." These performances were issued earlier by Storyville as But Beautiful, but there are no new tracks added.~ Ken Dryden
