Brisbane indie quartet The Creases debut album Tremolow has been a long time coming. Since their acclaimed debut EP, they’ve released three quality singles, Point, Impact and Everybody Knows. Tremolow is wider reaching than any specific genre category, but classic Britpop is the record’s driving force, with sing-along choruses, hyperactive rhythmic pulses and soaring melodies. Current single Is It Love is built on an insatiable groove and vocalist/guitarist Joe Agius’ detached, hypnotic vocals – it’s a song made to unite the masses on festival stages or indie club dancefloors alike. The Creases have had enough material to release an album for a while , but they were savvy to wait until now. They’re smarter people, better musicians and more confident as a band than ever. The free-fall of their initial hype is over; Tremolow proves they’ve stuck the landing.
