Sónia Oliveira was born on February 17, 1985, in Sintra.

She started studying music at the age of 9 and started vocal studies at the age of 12, having started to get involved with the jazz universe around the age of 15.

Her first album, “Sónia Oliveira”, appeared in 2006 with original pop compositions in collaboration with the producer Vítor Salgueiral.

"Pages" was the second album of originals, released in 2011, where work on the pop / rock record continues.

In 2014, she completed the Music Degree Course at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and in 2015 the Degree in Jazz and Modern Music at the Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, essential experiences for a crucial approach to the world of jazz.

In 2016, the album “Encontro” appears.

This, made up of versions of themes from the jazz, bossa nova and Portuguese music themes, features a duo for each song, bringing together the guests Carlos Garcia on the piano, Zé Miguel Vieira on the guitar, the accordionist João Barradas, the bass player André Ferreira and the trumpeter João Moreira. A minimal and intimate proposal that transports the listener to different musical environments.

At the same time he has collaborated with the projects “Uma Coisa em Forma de Assim” and “Pedro e os Lobos”.

The new album of originals, "Paz", is the most emotional of all edited so far, being especially directed to the instrumental component of the voice. It is music that appears in the context of the research project that the singer developed during the performance of the Master in Performance Jazz, concluded in 2017 at ESML.
