The Oldians - Roots’N’Soul (Nice & Easy) (2020) [Hi-Res]

For 16 years, the octet around guitarist, mastermind and songwriter JAVIER GARCIA has held an outstanding position in the genre. 60's Reggae, Ska and Rocksteady wrap the musicians - in keeping with the title "Nice & Easy" - in a feathery, loungey barjazz outfit and pay their respects to the students of Kingston's "Alpha Boy School".
After singer SAPHIE WELLS had already embellished the vocal songs to real pearls on the previous albums, she is permanently present on eleven of twelve songs and meanwhile a permanent band member. With trumpet, trombone and flugelhorn, Hammond, Rhodes and piano as well as guitar, bass and drums THE OLDIANS turn every song into a dreamy nostalgic trip.
Rhythmically perfectly grounded, light-footedly grooving and with perfect soloist parts, songs like "A Little Bit Of Trust", "The Answer Is Love", "The Root" or "Walking By The Line" reach a class of their own. Vintage Reggae highlight!
