This album is dedicated to my own little boat, which is moored up in Brighton Marina.
Recorded on a spring night in a studio at Surrey University.
We created the arrangements together, inspired by this collection of wonderful tunes, written by some of the greatest composers & lyricists.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.
A few words from Jim Mullen about this album:
"Confident and convincing, whether swinging hard or caressing a ballad, Sara takes the listener on a journey that mixes standards, Strayhorn, Monk & samba.
Listen to her cool power on the rarely-sung "The night has a thousand eyes" and her lovely Latin treatment of "Spring can really hang you up the most" - to my mind one of the most beautiful versions of Fran Landesman's hip take on Shakespeare's "Ode to Spring".
On the haunting ballad "This is always", Sara gives a stunning performance worthy of a veteran that is worth the price of the album on it's own, and coaxes powerful contribution from Ian Price and Mark Edwards.
I urge fans to catch one of Sara's gigs and, in the meantime, check out this dazzling cd which whets the appetite for this great singer.
