2008 throughout 2011, with some of the most expressive and influential blues harmonica players in our present days. I was honored to have had the opportunity to work and build a friendship with them, sharing a good time while touring the country.
Steve Guyger is one of the finest blues singers I’ve ever heard. His harmonica is as powerful as his vocals, expressing the true felling of the blues. Gary Smith has been a long time influence for me. Joe Filisko is a serious historian of the blues harmonica and a truly rhythm master. With his contribution on the low tuning Hohner Thunderbird harmonicas, he points up to a new horizon of different sound possibilities for our instrument. Peter Madcat is a long time friend. For many people’s surprise, he’s not playing harmonica on this project, but the ukulele, one of the many instruments he is a master of. Rick Estrin and the Nightcats are one of my favorite bands ever and their live performances are always like a great party. Some of the finest Brazilian musicians are joining me in this real musical adventure. The bonus track is a spontaneous jam session recorded in a home studio with Charlie Musselwhite back in 1994, including the Blues Etilicos’ rhythm session. I hope you’ll enjoy listening to this CD as well as we’ve enjoyed making it.
