This is Handel Arias, a new recording by soprano Karina Gauvin, whose unique voice with remarkable technique, deep musicality and exceptional breadth of her register have won over audiences and critics the world over, from the Royal Opera House to London at Lincoln Center in New York. She is accompanied by conductor and harpsichordist Alexander Weimann at the helm of his new ensemble, Tempo Rubato. Handel Arias is Karina Gauvin's fifth recording for ATMA. It includes oratorios tunes from Handel's London period: Messiah, Semele, Samson, Jephta, Solomon…. It also includes the formidable aria, Lascia ch’io pianga, from the opera Rinaldo.
