San Eco - San Eco (2017)

Throughout 2012, through a wall separating two studios in Manchester, two men were eavesdropping in on the completion of each other’s projects. Six Degrees by Morris Cowan (Wigflex) and The Manchester Underground EP by Tom Edney & the People Pleasers. Although differing vastly in style, their ears were drawn to the colour and melodies of the music they were creating respectively; Cowan’s bouncy and vibrant electronic post-rock techno, and Edney’s bombastic and emotive indie-pop songwriting. This curiosity led to conversations that would expose myriad shared influences, and form an agreement to try out some ideas together.

Three years on, Morris Cowan & Tom Edney are set to release San Eco, their debut album in summer 2016. It’s a ten track odyssey that seamlessly blends Edney’s catchy pop-hooks with Cowan’s ethereal soundscape production; material with medicinal qualities, and the ability to make you dance; like a brisk walk down a Cornish coastline, sound-tracked by Panda Bear and Caribou.

Following appearances on the recent Wigflex City Monsters compilation, alongside Lone and Nathan Fake, and on the Manchester-based BPM label’s first WE. DID. THAT. Compilation, covering Speed Demon by Michael Jackson; Morris Cowan & Tom Edney are all geared up for an interesting year...
