Lollise - Looking at You (2020)

Lollise is a musician, visual artist and fashion designer from Botswana, currently living in NYC. After many years of recording and touring with Akoya Afrobeat, Underground System and the FELA! Band, she has shifted focus to her original music. Her debut release - Looking At You - was created in collaboration with Morgan Greenstreet from March to May 2020, during the height of the first coronavirus outbreak in NYC. The EP explores themes of colonialism, racism, love and humility, reimagined in an interplanetary multiverse with Planet Africa at the center. The music is accompanied by self-directed music videos resplendent with colorful bricolage. With her keen aesthetic imagination, Lollise transforms her limited surroundings into dreamscapes ripe with possibility.
