The hands-down choice as the golden turkey of Edgar Winter's career, Mission Earth builds on the theme he began establishing with several of the tracks on Standing on Rock. An admirable attempt at a sci-fi space-rock opera, the LP fails to blend the music with the theme, making for an almost unlistenable release. In years to come, Winter's sidetrack to neverland would disappear, and he would start making more of the good old rock & roll hootchie koo everyone loved in the early days of his career.
