Danny Johnson was born in Kansas to a middle class family. The son of a farmer and a housewife, he began his creative interests with music at a young age. Later, in the 1960's his father seeking a career change, moved the family to California, settling in the Central Valley. The rich and diverse music of the San Joaquin Valley, lead the younger Johnson on a musical exploration of blues, country and rock n roll. This added to the rich cultural tradition of the Hispanic community, helped to create the rich palette from which Johnson paints his musical soundscapes.
Commuting on the weekends to the Fillmore Auditorium and the Winterland in San Francisco, and the club scene of the 70's and 80's in Los Angeles, helped develop Johnson's unique style. Heavily influenced by the guitar heroes of the 60's and 70's, Johnson also adds a liberal dose of fusion infused jazz to his bag of tricks.
Working the clubs up and down the state from Yuba City to San Diego, provided Johnson with the valuable playing experiences that eventually lead to the music here.
