John Holt - I Can't Get You Off My Mind (2015)

The most talked about early reggae records featured extraordinarily jumped up rhythms, whose emphatic beats virtually pogoed across the discs. Still, not every Jamaican producer shot off in search of the world's most juttering rhythms. Coxsone Dodd, for one, preferred a smoother style, and while his rhythms were definitely hopping, the full arrangements softened the genre's harsher edges.
