About the Artist
GLEN HELGESON:
Imaginative and innovative, acoustic guitarist and composer Glen Helgeson has been performing, composing and playing guitar for more than 20 years, He is the leader and composer for the world-beat jazz group Axis Mundi. He has recorded four albums: Cool Drink a Water, Spirit of the Wood, Distant Borders, and Rising Current. Rising Current has received chart status and extensive national radio play. Glen's toal CD sales are more than 50.000. His music has been played on Public Television, and Entertainment Tonight. He has earned top honors from the Minnesota Music Academy in the "Instrumental, Environmental and Experimental" music category and had six nominations as best "New Age Recording Artist." He was commissioned to write a piece for the Minneapolis Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden, and received a West Bank School of Music Jazz Composer Grant. Influenced by his travels and performances in more than 25 countries throughout South America, Europe and Africa, Glen fuses ! instruments and musical styles from around the world with his own guitar compositions rooted in America's heartland.
